Love this article and the idea of introducing disorder and unpredictability to my life to take my brain off autopilot.
Some exercises I do:
- occasionally taking a different path on my commute to work (pre-covid)
- forcing myself to hang out with completely strangers (reddit, meetups)
- going on Tim Ferriss-style sprints and experiments: trying out new diets, cutting out alcohol for a period of time, cold showers every day for a week
- social experiments -- making a habit to engage in small talk everywhere I go (e.g. in the elevator, with my doorman, Uber drkver) or giving genuine compliments to strangers I meet
